Size: 5.2x4.8x4.0cm
Mineral: Cobaltite on Sulfide Matrix
Locality: Håkansboda, Lindesberg, Örebro County, Sweden
Description: A wonderful euhedral cobaltite with bright metallic luster sits perched regally in the middle of a sulfide matrix. This is an extremely old specimen. The mine operated as early as the 1400’s sporadically through the the 1870’s, with the major mining period happening from 1700-1873. Additionally there was a brief attempt at minor mining operations during WW1. These specimens are becoming almost impossible to find and this is an impeccable example. The cobaltite crystal measures 2.25cm across at its widest, this is quite a respectable size for the locality! A great addition to any collection. This specimen has a historic label associating it with the former Moebs Collection.
Please feel free to contact me for more photos or videos of the specimen.
