Description: California’s Boron Mine is the largest open pit mine in the state and accounts for approximately a million tonnes of processed borax per year which is one third of all Borax production in the world. Approximate pit dimensions are 1.75 miles wide, 2 miles long, and 750 feet deep. A variety of minerals occur here but colemanite is one of the most iconic collector quality specimens.
