Cuprian Adamite, Gold Hill Mine, Tooele County, Utah, USA
Size: 3.2x2.7x2.3 cm
Species: Cuprian Adamite minor Hematite
Locality: Gold Hill Mine, Tooele County, Utah, USA
Description: This piece combines first class aesthetics with a level of rarity worthy of any mineral connoisseurs collection. The vivid green balls of cuprian adamite are pleasingly contrasted by the dark iron rich matrix. In the display position a single sphere is seen to be perched perfectly at the apex of the specimen. While Utah adamites are not common saturated cuprian adamites are found in considerably fewer numbers. This disparity increases drastically as the quality escalates. This specimen was likely found on the 80 level of the Gold Hill Mine inferred from the association of hemimorphite with the adamite. The time frame this specimen was found is unknown. I would guess it was collected during mine operation or shortly thereafter. As a “fine” mineral I believe this specimen checks every box of color, contrast, form, rarity, size ratio, isolation, etc.
