Fluorite, West Pasture Mine, Stanhope, County Durham, England
Size: 5.5x4.7x4.1cm
Mineral: Fluorite
Locality: West Pasture Mine, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UK
Description: One of my favorite fluorite localities in England is the west pasture mine. What is exceptional about this is a bright green line running from one corner towards the center of the cube. This is a very special phenomenon called a Frankel defect which is a misalignment in the crystal lattice where an ion occupies a interstitial site and doesn’t conform to its position. Additionally this specimen offers light lime green and purple phantoms along with great luster. A must have locality for serious fluorite collectors.
Please feel free to request videos of the specimen via email at dan@danzrockshop.com for further details.
