FluoriteEtched Corner, Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith Co, Tennessee, USA
Size: 7.9x7.9x5.5 cm
Species: Fluorite Etched Corner
Locality: Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith Co, Tennessee, USA
Description: This listing is for a jewel fluorite “Carthage Corner” from the famous mine in Elmwood. This specimen is a complete floater with no points of contact and top notch luster. A fun detail about this specimen is that on the corner you can clearly see petroleum inclusions that are all aligned perpendicular to the face of the crystal. These fluoresce a bright yellow under UV. I decided to have this specimen mounted in a way that may be considered at first counter intuitive. I placed the fully etched tip facing up and put the corner facing downwards. I believe this shows off the sculptural qualities of the specimen.
