Locality: Cleartor Moor, Cumberland, England, UK
Description: A classic association from an area that has been mined since 1780 seeped in mining and mineral history. This specimen features an old label handwritten and taped to the side of the layer of hematite that forms an impression from the kidney ore it grew atop of. The quartz is squat with intricate interlocking crystals. Some contain inclusions of specular hematite and some are entirely translucent. A druze of specular hematite is sprinkled across the faces of several of the crystals. Specimens from this locality are quite sought after since it is fairly obscure and not many are available.
